The Encouragements Project
An ongoing, offline, and free experiment wherein ‘Encouragements’ - short instructional scores / actions / activities / happenings - are delivered by post to participants. Designed as invitations to enter a state where contemplative awareness can emerge, there is no correct way to practise the Encouragements, and no expectation of engagement or feedback from participants. The level of commitment towards practising Encouragements is also entirely up to the individual.
Every three months, a new Encouragement will be delivered by post to all signed up participants, continuing indefinitely. The Encouragements Project is set up to be an intimate and non-digital attempt to quiet the noise of the modern, monotonous, material world. In the spirit of this, Encouragements will not be available online.
To participate in The Encouragements Project, simply enter your name (optional) and address (essential to deliver post) below. The project is free of charge, and absolutely no personal information will be shared with any third parties.
The Encouragements Project is inspired by and indebted to many other artists, most notably Mieko Shiomi, Yoko Ono, Pauline Oliveros, and Patrick Farmer.
